Jim Flynn
Dr. Jim Flynn serves as the Executive Director of the Kentucky Association of School Superintendents (KASS) and as a founding board member and past chair of the Kentucky Center for Leadership. In both roles, he works at the intersection of leadership development and public education — committed to building the kind of adaptive, purpose-driven leaders Kentucky needs at every level. At KASS, he leads statewide advocacy, professional learning, and member support for Kentucky's 171 school superintendents. At KC4L, he brings that same conviction: that investing in leaders is one of the highest-leverage strategies for strengthening communities across the Commonwealth.
A veteran educator with more than 36 years of service, Dr. Flynn spent 16 years as superintendent of Simpson County Schools, where he was named the 2015 Kentucky Superintendent of the Year. An active leader in Kentucky and across the nation, he has served in key roles with major state and national education organizations and has shared Kentucky's educational achievements with international audiences in Finland and China, contributing to global conversations about leadership, continuous improvement, and system redesign. He also serves on the Kentucky Workforce Innovation Board, the Commonwealth Education Continuum, the Kentucky Judicial Commission on Mental Health, and is past chair of the United We Learn Council — reflecting his belief that great leadership is the common thread running through every thriving community.
A Bowling Green native and BGHS Hall of Honor inductee, Dr. Flynn earned degrees from Western Kentucky University, Texas A&M–Corpus Christi, and Northern Kentucky University. He and his wife, Natalie, a retired teacher, are the parents of three adult children — Bracken (Rice), Hunter (WKU), and Bretton (UK).
